Please view the schedule at home, before you leave for the pool, and refresh it on your phone so it fully updates. Refreshing it at the pool may fail if you have a poor internet connection, and you will not see any new students.

Check your texts daily. We will text you if the start time of your shift changes, but please also do your part by making sure to check the schedule every day.
Read the schedule carefully. Accidentally teaching a class for the wrong duration, or telling someone that their child isn’t on the schedule when they are, upsets the parents, and causes unnecessary challenges for Clo and the admin team.
Difficult students are identified on the schedule. If you need help teaching them, text the office number during business hours (Mon - Fri, 8:00am - 3:00pm). Examples of difficult students can be:

Adults
Special needs (Down syndrome, autism, etc.)
Medical issues (asthma, EpiPens, etc.)
You only need to be at the pool during the lesson times that have students. In the example below:
Classes are available from 2:15 - 7:15pm.
There are no students from 2:45 - 4:00pm, and 7:00 - 7:45pm.Â
This means the coach starts at 4:00pm, and leaves at 7:00pm.
MANAGING BACK-TO-BACK LESSONS

There are no 5 minute breaks between classes anymore in an effort to improve our student enrollment. By client request, we have returned to our original model of 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons. This means that lessons run back-to-back, so it’s important to watch your time. Having done the job for 30 years, Clo has the following advice on how to manage classes running back-to-back:
Set alarms: Get kids out of the pool 1-2 minutes before the end of the lesson. Your next class will expect the door to open exactly on time. Phone alarms will help you stay on schedule.
Check the schedule carefully: Know 100% when your classes start and end.
Be organized: Set up for your next class during play time.
Bathrooms: Use them at the very beginning of the lesson, after picking up your next class from their parents, or at the very end, before you return them to their parents. Or, if any of your kids have to use the bathroom, you should too, regardless of whether you need to, as it’s a good opportunity.
Snacks: Same as above — eat on your way to or from the door.
Paperwork: Work on it during play time.Â
Our goal is always to increase enrollment. To do this, we need to make sure all kids and parents leave happy.
The kids pay your paycheque. If they are unhappy, they will tell their parents they don’t want to come back. To help keep them happy:
End the lesson with a three minute game, or play time with toys.
Every lesson, ask them, “how was the lesson today: easy, hard, or perfect?” Adjust to their feedback.
Personable coaches who give the best feedback are the ones parents like the best.
Make sure the parents know your name.
Review how to give feedback: Give group feedback on what the kids worked on and how well they all did.
Never skip giving feedback. It’s okay to give the entire group of parents generalized feedback of what you worked on, and what you’ll work on next time.
