HOTEL CONTRACT IS #1

❌Nobody from Swim Fins is permitted to use the hot tub or sauna at any hotel.

This includes coaches, parents, children, adults, or any other Swim Fins participants.

1. The hotel contract is number 1, even over our clients. Always follow the hotel’s lead if they tell you to do something. Fill Clo in where necessary.

2. All students must shower before entering the pool.

3. ❌No clothing in the pool, unless it is a rash shirt (it must feel like your Swim Fins rash shirt).

4. ❌No outside shoes on the pool deck — no matter what they are — if they were worn outside, they must come off.

5. ❌No Swim Fins coaches or students are allowed in the hot tub or sauna. 

   • Our insurance does not cover these spaces. As the supervisor and coach on site, you will be held personally liable should anything happen to anyone affiliated with Swim Fins with regards to the hot tub and/or sauna.

   • We do not rent these spaces from the hotel. In addition to not being insured, using the hot tub and/or sauna compromises our hotel contract.

6. Don't ask hotel employees for anything. All concerns about the pool should go through the office line, such as:

   • Cold pool temperature

   • Pool chemicals

   • Broken toilet in the change room, etc.

7. Bring your own towels as no Swim Fins coaches or clients are permitted to use hotel towels. If you see any clients using hotel towels, please remind them. If it persists, contact the office, and tell us who it is.

8. Toys: Put all toys away after your shift and make sure none are left out. Make sure you check the skimmers for any toys that may have gotten stuck.

DURING LESSONS: MAKE IT LOOK LIKE WE’RE NOT THERE

Having as little physical presence as possible at the hotels is important for maintaining our hotel contract. Please do the following to help make it look like we’re not there:

1. Keep equipment bin lids closed at all times.

2. Clean as you go so you don’t have equipment you don’t need laying out.

3. Keep your personal belongings in the bin, rather than laying on the floor or on chairs.

DON’T BRING PEOPLE TO YOUR SHIFT

❌Please do not bring friends, family, or significant others to sit on the pool deck or use the pool during your shift for any reason.

We have had an incident where a coach brought a friend to their shift to sit on the pool deck during their lessons. The hotel notified us, and we were not aware that this was happening, which compromised our hotel contract. 

HOTEL GUESTS

1. Always greet hotel guests at the door to create a relationship and so they know they can swim: “Hi, how are you?”

   • DO NOT say, “we are doing swimming lessons.”

   • ONLY IF THE GUEST ASKS should you say, “we are practicing swimming.”

2. Split the pool so the guest gets half the pool.

3. Safety is number one: Keep the pool deck clear; all equipment should be off to the side and off the stairs.

4. Inform the front desk if you see either of the following on the pool deck, or in the pool area:

   • Hotel guests who appear 16 years old or under without an adult present.

   • Hotel guests consuming alcohol.

IS SOMEONE BREAKING THE RULES?

If you see anyone breaking the rules, including parents and coaches, please educate them. If they continue to break the rules after you have spoken to them, contact the office. We will reach out directly, as this compromises our hotel contract.

⚠️PROTECTING CLOVERDALE EAST CONTRACT

IF YOU WORK IN CLOVERDALE EAST, YOU MUST READ THIS SECTION!

All Clov-East coaches will be required to fill out a form to prove their knowledge of our important Clov-East procedures.

⚠️(CE) HOTEL CONTRACT COMPROMISED

In addition to the Protecting Hotel Contract procedures above, you must also abide by the following:

1. No parents are allowed in the hotel AT ALL as it compromises our hotel contract. Our hotel contract is our #1 priority, even over clients.

2. This means there are NO PARENTS ON THE POOL DECK — EVER (Open House will take place elsewhere).

3. Wrap & Go only, no exceptions.

4. Hotel Guest Capacity (8): If there are eight or more hotel guests using the pool, you must take your whole class out of the pool and do dry land until there are fewer than eight guests again. This is mandatory as per the GM.

   • Students must get wet. If you must exit the pool due to the above, make sure each class spends three minutes treading water in a corner in each lesson.

5. The staff are watching on the cameras.
