As a courtesy to your fellow Swim Fins coaches, please keep the bins tidy. Nobody wants to start their shift with a disorganized bin, and everyone should do their part to make sure the bins stay organized. Please spend a few minutes at the end of every shift tidying the bins. Your kindness to your fellow coaches will go a long way.
Don't unlock bins you don't need.
If the bins are consistently messy when you arrive for your shift, tell the office, and we will speak with the coach who teaches before you.
Always ensure the bins are securely locked. If the clamp the lock goes on is loose, there are screwdrivers at every pool to tighten them. If you’re still struggling to get a bin to lock securely, this is considered an emergency and you should call Clo. Do not leave the pool as long as our bins are not secure. They must be 100% locked before you leave the pool.
General rule: If you don’t need to go into a bin for any reason, don’t unlock it.
Bin Locks: The locks can sometimes get sticky. If you have trouble locking the bin, leave your key in the keyhole, and then lock it. This should engage the lock.
This is what clean, tidy bins should look like at the end of your shift.
As the pool area is humid, it's common for the metal parts of our bins to rust and eventually break. One of the most common parts of the bin to break is the hook that you thread the lock through. It is very important that every bin is able to be locked before you leave the pool for the day as we have up to $3000 worth of equipment stored at each pool.
We keep spare bin parts at each pool for the parts that break frequently, such as bin hooks. They can be found inside the pencil box in the dry bin, along with a screwdriver.
Using the screwdriver, please remove the broken bin hook and replace it with a new one. Ensure that the lock threads nicely through and that the bin is 100% lockable when you're finished. As always, before you leave the pool for the day, pull on the lock and bin lid to ensure that the lock has fully engaged and our equipment is secure.
This is what a broken bin hook looks like.
Lane markers must be kept up at all times (especially Open House) at White Rock, Clov-West, and Clov-East. If they are not up, let the office know.
We do not use lane markers at Abbotsford, Walnut Grove, or Richmond. Instead, use toys on the wall.
